Washi Meets...Decorate to Celebrate DT Challenge #95: Altered Switchplate

Wednesday, March 4, 2015

Hello,

It's Wednesday, and it means it's Decorate to Celebrate time! Wed is also when I post creations using washi tape!!!

I am so ready for Spring!!! It's still cold and snowing here...
So here it is...Washi Tape Meets...Altered Switchplate!

Challenges:
1. JUGS #282: Photo Inspiration (don't know if they accept projects other than cards, but since the colors are from their challenge, thought I would link to it, too!)
2. WAW #173: Anything Goes
3. MMMC #10: Birds of a Feather

How-To:
The bird is a vinyl sticker, and I already had it there before.
I took the switchplate off, covered it with the gold polka-dot washi tape and put it back.
I cut the roses from Art Philosophy Cricut (2 different sizes), rolled them and added gold glitter.
I stamped 2 flower images with leaves, colored them with Shin Han Touch Twin and Copic markers and heat embossed them in clear 3 times.
Then, I added the stamped images and the roses on the switch plate.

Supplies (CTMH):
retired SOTM
Shin Han Touch Twin markers
Art Philosophy Cricut cartridge
Gold Polka--Dot Washi Tape
Colonial Daisy cardstock
Tweezers
Heat Gun
Others:
Versamark
Clear Embossing Powder (Ranger)
Copic marker
Glue
Gold Glitter

You can create and link decorations for anything you please: 3-D projects, cards in a box, cards with any 3-D cut out on it, etc...
You'll have 2 weeks to link your projects!

And don't forget to visit my DT mates creations!
Thank you for all your lovely comments!

Have a nice day!

Decorate to Celebrate DT Challenge #93: Altered Chocolate Box

Wednesday, February 4, 2015

Hello,

It's a new Anything Goes Challenge at Decorate to Celebrate!
Here's my project:

Challenges:
1. MMMC #9: Think Pink
2. SSS Mon: H is for...
3. WAW #169: Anything Goes
4. FCCB #244: Valentine's Day
5. H2H CTMH: Home is where the Heart is

I altered this chocolate box from Fannie May...but before I get to the how-to, a funny story...
The box was under my coffee table...when I grabbed it to start my project, the "supposedly empty"
box was filled with these:

My funny boys...don't know which one did it, though! =)
Maybe my oldest son N...since I saw him playing with it the other day...

OK, to the how-to:
1.The box had these pretty swirls on top, so I just covered it with 2 different decorative tapes from my stash. They are not really washi tape, they're shinny, kinda like pretty packing tape.

2. I added 2 strips of patterned paper to cover the sides. The colors were a little bit off, so I added pink polka-dots washi tape on top of the strips. I also glued a pink decorative ribbon on the top edge.
3. I cut a floral wreath from Artfully Sent Cricut cart and adhered half of it on box.
4. I used a light pink ink pad to stamp Doily and fussy cut it.
5. I stamped Doodle circle and sentiment in bright pink ink, fussy cut it, and adhere on top of Doily with foam tape.
6. I adhered the stamped embellishment on box, and added paper flowers (Prima) and a rolled flower from Art Philosophy Cricut cart.
7. Finally, I mixed liquid glue (The Paper Studio) with glitter (holographic purple and white) and brushed them on the flowers and "branch" with a paintbrush.

Supplies (CTMH):
Artfully Sent and Art Philosophy Cricut cartridges
Doily stamp
Doodled Designs stamp set
Sentiment - Mini Valentine stamp
foam tape
pink polka-dot washi tape
White Daisy cardstock
Others:
decorative tape
patterned paper
ribbon
liquid glue
glitters
paintbrush
flowers (Prima)

Thanks for stopping by!

Decorate to Celebrate DT Challenge #92: Love Heart Wall Decoration

Wednesday, January 21, 2015

Hello,

It's time for a new challenge at Decorate to Celebrate
It's Anything Goes - create decorations for anything you please (3-D projects, cards in a box, and cards with any 3-D cut out on it).

I made this wall decoration with my Cricut:

Supplies:
Art Philosophy Cricut Cartridge from CTMH (heart, banners and rose)
stamps (CTMH)
patterned papers (KI Memories, The Paper Studio)
hemp string
mini clothespins
paper flowers (Recollection)
Brilliance ink pad

I cut the same heart shape (almost 11 inches) out of white cardstock and pink patterned paper. The white heart was altered in CCR. I also cut out 4 flags in black and a spiral in cream, which I rolled into a rose.
Don't know if you can see it in the pics, but I weaved hemp around the open spaces, and also used hemp for hanging the banner and the heart.
I spelled "LOVE" (using stamps and a pearlescent ink pad) on the flags and added them with clothespins. I like using Brilliance ink pads on black paper...it gives you the chalkboard look with a little bit of shimmer.
I finished it up with two cut out butterflies and layered flowers with the rose.

Thank you for stopping by!
And don't forget to link your projects HERE!

I'm linking it at:
1. WAW #167: Anything Goes
2. MMMC #8: Something New for the New Year (I've never made a shaped wall decoration with my Cricut...believe it or not!)
3. SSS Wed Have a Heart

Decorate to Celebrate DT: Challenge #91 - Anything Goes

Wednesday, January 7, 2015

Another exciting news for 2015!
I am on the Decorate to Celebrate Design Team!

Here's my first project:

My wedding anniversary is coming up and my husband and kids surprised me with an early gift - a Hyacinth!
The vase is a plain clear one and you can see all the roots, so I decided to hide them...

The pretty double-sided glittered patterned paper (try to say that fast!) did half the job!
I used my Cricut to cut the box base (Artiste Cricut cartridge from CTMH). It also has the box shape, but I actually just cut/scored my own.
I stamped the sentiment from This Moment stamp set (CTMH) on white cardstock and inked the edges; added some Prima flowers, gemstone and glitter glue and...there you have it! A vase box!

Hope you liked it!
And don't forget to link your creations HERE!
